Yuma vs. Kofa
Jan. 28, 2004
Kofa
defeated the Criminals in an end of the year battle that finished the
regular season for both teams. The final score of 38-27 was
just enough to secure the victory with Yuma forfeiting at 160 and
171. Ray Laurel the
varsity regular at 160 was out with a minor surgery on his ear, and the
Crims are still looking for someone to fill the 171 lb. weight class
after the 5th consecutive year without one. Brock Williamson picked up his team
leading 37th win of the season, as well as his 26th pin. Yuma freshmen Noel Martinez, Raul Sanchez,
Fabian Moreno, and John Herrera along with sophomores Steve and Francisco Macias, Jose Sanchez,
and Manny Franco give the Criminals a lot to look forward to in
the coming seasons.
The regional tournament will be held at Desert Vista
high school in Tempe on Feb. 4th. The top three from each weight
class will qualify for the state tournament.
